50 children admitted to hospital

SALEM: More than 50 children aged below seven have been admitted to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital here following symptoms of viral fever. Since last week, around 200 children are being treated every day out-patients. The hospital is receiving children complaining of nausea, high fever and severe cold. The Paediatrics department is struggling to cope with the situation.

Some of them are suffering from diarrhoea. Steps will be taken to prevent dehydration, the hospital dean said. — Special Correspondent
