Meet on laboratory animal management

BANGALORE: The Laboratory Animal Scientists Association of India (LASA), the IISc. and the Veterinary College, Hebbal, are jointly organising the second national conference on “Current perspectives and future challenges in laboratory animal management” on Saturday and Sunday at the J.N. Tata auditorium, IISc. here

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, S.G. Ramachandra, organising secretary for the conference and president, LASA, said there was an urgent need to upgrade the animal facilities in laboratories and accreditation from international agencies to meet the demands from pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

“The conference focusses on various regulatory guidelines, automation and quality control in animal facilities and experiments, accreditation of animal facilities and use of specialised animals in experimentation,” he said.
