Rs. 350 crores given as bank loans to SHGs

Kakinada: The district administration disbursed bank loans amounting to Rs. 350 crores to self-help groups in 2007-08 against the target of Rs. 430 crores. Under the financial inclusion scheme, Rs. 117 crores was distributed as loans to 4,909 groups, according to District Collector M. Subrahmanyam.

In a press release on Monday, the Collector said that construction of 14,632 houses out of 44,592 had commenced under the Indiramma scheme.

The target was expected to be met by the end of March 2008. As many as 48,604 houses were sanctioned in the second phase of Indiramma.

Under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Rs. 60 crores was spent till now and 65,85,543 mandays were created.

Of the 24,589 works (valuing Rs. 276 crores) for which administrative clearance was given under the NREGS till date, 1,345 works with Rs. 7 crores were completed and 9,932 works were in different stages of implementation. Priority was given to create employment and improve the plight of farmers, the Collector said.
