BJP national council in Delhi from January 27

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced that it will hold a one-day national executive committee meeting here on January 27 followed by a two-day national council session on January 28 and 29.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s general secretaries here chaired by party president Rajnath Singh

An earlier suggestion that the three-day meeting be held in Bangalore was not favoured as any day the Election Commission could announce the election schedule for the Assembly elections in Karnataka, which is currently under President’s Rule.

In Karnataka the BJP has already announced that B.S. Yeddyurappa will once again be its chief ministerial candidate. The party hopes to attract the considerable Lingayat votes to it. What is also clear is that the BJP will not tie up with the JD(S) after the party had failed to give it support leading to the collapse of the Yeddyurappa government in November.
