Champions all: DAV Public School, Safilguda, promotes all-round development


Sreenidhi International School, Madhapur, spent their last working day on Dec 20 celebrating festivals and other important events to make students aware of the age-old traditions, practices and their historical significance.

The school had a special assembly celebrating festive spirit of Christmas and Id-Ul-Zuha. The ‘birth of Christ’ was enacted by the students and they sung Christmas carols kindling the Christmas spirit. Then it was time for Inter House Quiz Competition organised for the four houses- Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Neptune by the principal who was the quiz master.

The day ended with students gathering round the decorated X mas tree, making merry and picking up gifts signalling end of 2007 and welcoming New Year 2008.

DAV Public School, Safilguda

The DAV Public School, Safilguda, is entering its silver jubilee year with a formidable strength of 3,400 students and 196 teachers. The school, which became a name to reckon with in the field of quality education, had a humble beginning in 1983 in a rented premises at Begumpet with 196 students and 11 teachers. The foundation was laid by the then principal and regional director C. Ramakrishna. The school today stands on its own land in Safilguda spread over three acres, divided into primary, secondary and plus two wings with well equipped labs for computers, science and maths and well-stocked libraries.

The school students take part in activities aimed at protecting environment under the aegis of National Green Corps (NGC) like making idols of Ganesha with eco-friendly materials on Ganesh Chavithi and presenting them to people and taking out rallies for creating public awareness. Scouts and Guides programme instil a sense of commitment and responsibility towards the society. The school is placed in the top slot of CBSE with ‘Very Good Plus’ category for producing tenth board results aggregating 80 per cent, said Principal Seetakiran.
