Polavaram: High Court suspends order

HYDERABAD: A division bench of the High Court comprising Justice T. Meena Kumari and Justice G. Rohini on Monday suspended the operation of an order of the National Environment Appellate Authority quashing the environmental clearance granted to the multi-purpose Polavaram project.

The bench gave the orders while admitting a writ petition filed by the State Government challenging the order of the Authority and posted the final hearing to February 11.

The Government approached the court after the Authority set aside the environmental clearance given by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests for the project in response to a writ petition filed by Mountain Environics. The bench directed the government to issue notices to all the respondents.
