NCC training for girl cadets under way

TIRUCHI: A 10-day annual training camp for NCC girl cadets commenced at Jamal Mohamed College here a few days ago.

Around 700 senior and junior wing girl cadets from various schools and colleges from Tiruchi and other districts are taking part in the camp organised by the 4 TN Girls Battalion NCC, Tiruchi.

The cadets are being trained in drill, firing, obstacle crossing, karate, guard of honour and map reading.

The cadets are also being imparted training by a team of army officers and Associate NCC Officers on personality development, communication and leadership skills and the ways to conduct themselves. Emphasis is given to punctuality and discipline.

The camp, which concludes on January 4, features various competitions for the cadets to showcase their skills and talents and the level of their achievement from the training they had received.

Commanding Officer, 4 TN Girls Battalion NCC, Tiruchi, and Camp Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Sanjay Anand said cadets from 10 districts were taking part in the camp. The camp was being conducted to make the cadets eligible for NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate examinations, he added.
