NEW DELHI: Delhi Finance and Planning Minister A. K. Walia on Tuesday declared that there had been a 10.27 per cent increase in excise collections during the first three quarters of the current financial year. He said a sum of Rs.934 crore had been collected up to December 2007 this year against Rs.847 crore during the corresponding period of the last financial year. Dr. Walia said there had been an increase of Rs.4.5 crore in excise on sale of liquor during the week ending December 31, 2007, compared to the corresponding week of the last year. An amount of Rs.31.5 crore was collected as excise duty on sale of liquor during this period against Rs.27 crores during the same period last year. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
