Safe stick: Trainee bus drivers affixing bulls eye on the headlight of a bus in Tiruchi on Tuesday. TIRUCHI: The Road Safety Week celebrations organised by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation commenced here on Tuesday with the officials of the Transport Department distributing pamphlets containing messages on adherence to road rules and safe driving to the general public. As part of the celebrations held at the Central Bus Stand in the city, bulls eye stickers were pasted on the headlights of government and private buses. The General Manager, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Tiruchi Region, P.P. Rajendran, Regional Transport Officer, Tiruchi, M. Natarajan, Regional Transport Officer, Srirangam, A. Rajendran, and other senior officials were present on the occasion. A team of officials of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation pasted reflector stickers at the rear side of buses and lorries in different places in the city. For the next six days, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has planned variety of programmes in connection with the Road Safety Week celebrations including an eye camp for the government bus drivers. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
