CHENNAI: A jeweller in suburban Padi was duped of 24 sovereigns of gold jewellery by two youths on Friday. According to police, the youths came to the jewellery shop of R. Suresh of South Mada Street, Padi, stating that they wanted to purchase a gold chain. A little later when they enquired about silver articles, Mr. Suresh went to an adjoining room to bring out a few silver items. However, when he returned he did not find the duo. Following this, he took stock of the articles in the showroom and found gold jewellery weighing 24 sovereigns missing. The police are investigating . Two held; CDs seizedTwo persons who were in possession of a large number of pirated compact discs and recording obscene films on CDs were arrested from a house in Madhavaram Milk Colony on Friday. Police said that V. Shanmugam and his brother V. Kuppuram of Thideer Nagar, Manjampakkam, were intercepted by a patrol team near a bus stop on Thursday night. Inquiries revealed that they possessed huge number of CDs containing obscene films. They had planned to sell them in Burma Bazaar and other markets.
