Police arrest 5 accused in milk centre fraud

MAHABUBNAGAR: Mahabubnagar rural police have arrested five persons accused in connection with misappropriation of fund to the tune of Rs.1.22 crore pertaining to Mahabubnagar milk chilling centre on Saturday. The Inspector of Police of rural police station B.Munirajulu told The Hindu that two more, accused in the case were at large. According to him the rural police have received a compliant on November 3, 2004 from Managing Director of APDDC stating that an amount of Rs.1.22 crore was found to be misappropriated by the employees working in Mahabubnagar milk chilling centre and requested for investigation.

Meanwhile deputy director of DDC, Mahabubngar, Syed Anwar lodged a compliant in which he stated that only Rs.2.22 lakhs have been misappropriated and identified Prem Kumar, District Nodal officer as guilty. Accordingly Prem Kumar was arrested and later released on bail.

After investigation of audit reports police found that among the 17 employees who were suspected as accused 10 were found not guilty, while 7 others were guilty.
