VKRC emerges victorious

VIJAYAWADA: Host VKR College topped the table with six points to emerge victorious in the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate hockey tournament at VKR College grounds, Buddhavaram on Sunday.

Andhra Loyola College finished second with four points, while Machilipatnam’s AJ College took the third place with two.

In the final league match, VKRC defeated ALC 2-1. Right–out D. Siva Prasad scored a brace for the winner in the first-half, while Nitin netted for Loyola in the 69th minute.

Sujan triumphs

Vijayawada Railway Institute’s K. Sujan Kumar defeated V. Srinivasa Rao of Krishna District Carrom Association 25-0, 19-25, 25-0 in the final of the District open tournament at Satyanarayanapuram Railway Institute here on Sunday.

Other results: Semifinals: Sujan Kumar bt Sk. Shajahan (RI) 25-18, 25-6, Srinivasa Rao bt M. Ratna Raj (RI) 25-11, 25-6.

Veterans women: Final: S. Lakshmi (BSNL) bt B. Vijayakumari (KDCA) 25-18, 25-16.

District carrom team

The following players will represent Krishna District in the inter-District carrom championship to be held at Ongole, according Krishna District Carrom Association president K.S.S. Sankar Rao here on Sunday.
