RAJAPALAYAM: Timely intervention by a conductor, Murugesan, helped passengers and the driver of a State-run bus have a providential escape on the Rajapalayam-Tenkasi highway on Monday. Sources said the driver, Ravi Kumar, developed epilepsy and lost control of the vehicle when it left the Rajapalayam bus stand. The bus hit and uprooted a couple of electric poles at around 5 a.m. However, the conductor intervened and handled the situation and avoided hitting other vehicles. Later, the bus stopped after hitting a roadside tree. No one sustained any serious injury. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
