Bangalore: The Mumbai-based filmmaker and academician Arun Khopkar has said that the very composition of film making, such as the selection of the theme, screenplay, photography and other forms of support will play a consequential role in the making of purposeful cinema.

Mr. Khopkar was speaking at an interactive session at the second Bengalooru International Film Festival (Biffes) here on Monday. He conducted a three-day workshop at Biffes, on the composition of films, which concluded on Monday.

Expressing his happiness over the good response to the workshop, he said that it was an experience to hold a workshop on the issues and topics involved in making cinema.

The noted documentary filmmaker Paromita Vohra spoke on the thematic relevance and technicalities of cinema making.

Entering the fifth day, the organisers of the week-long Biffes were happy that the festival had evoked a good response, particularly from youth.

The Biffes gained additional momentum with all five screening centres houseful on Sunday.

Monday was also not disappointing as the main venue was seen bubbling with activity.

The organisers of the festival told The Hindu the festival had been heartening thus far, as film buffs of Bangalore had been made it a big one by evincing interest in it.
