Cuttack police avert robbery; three arrested

CUTTACK: The Cuttack police on Tuesday night arrested three persons from the Bidanasi area who were planning to commit a major robbery in the city. The police seized huge quantities of gunpowder and material used for bomb making from them. The three arrested persons who have several cases pending against them were produced in court on Wednesday, according to the police.

An officer of the Bidanasi police station overheard the criminals while they were discussing their plan inside a half-constructed house in the locality. At least five of them had congregated when a team of police raided their hideout. Two of the gang managed to escape while the police arrested the kingpin Prithviraj Saha and two of his accomplices --Sanjay Saha and Bijay Naik.
