State files affidavit

BANGALORE: The Government on Friday filed an affidavit on mining operations that are being carried out in some survey numbers in Sandur of Sandur taluk of Bellary district. The State filed the affidavit after Justice D.V. Shylendra Kumar, who is hearing a case by MSPL, a mining firm, had moved the court following the State’s refusal to grant it mining lease in Sandur. Mr. Shylendra Kumar had, on an earlier occasion, asked the State to file a report by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute on mining activities in the area. Mr. Shylendra Kumar adjourned further hearing in the case. — Staff Reporter
