dated January 12, 1958: Sri Tyagaraja Aradana

The 111th Aradana of Sri Tyagaraja began at 7 a.m. on January 10 at Tiruvaiyaru. The saint’s portrait was taken in procession to the Samadhi with Veda Parayanam, followed by more than 200 vidwans to the Tyagabrahma temple situated on the northern bank of the Cauvery. In the large decorated pandal there, Vidwans sang the Pancharatna kirtanas and Mahanyasa Rudra Abhishekam and Aradhana took place to the image. The Alathur Brothers, Semmangudi Srinivasa Aiyar, G.N. Balasburamaniam, Musiri Subramania Aiyar, Sathoor Subramaniam, Mayavaram Rajam, Madurai Srirangam Iyengar (vocal), Tiruveezhimazhilai Brothers. Tiruvadamarudur P.S. Veeruswami Pillai, Ayyampet Venu (nagaswaram), Tiruvadamarudur Venkatesan, Karandai Shanmugam and Thiruppanandal Dakshinamurthy (tavul), Mayavaram Govindaraja Pillai, T.N. Krishnan and Lalgudi Jayaraman (violin), Palghat Mani Aiyar, Palani Subramania Pillai, Palghat Raghu and T.K. Murthy (mridangam), were among the musicians who participated in the singing.
