THANJAVUR: Nagapattinam defeated Tirunelveli 60-29 in a boys’ league encounter of the inter-district youth basketball championship, jointly conducted by the Thanjavur District Basketball Association and Kamala Subramaniam MHSS, here on Friday.

Bishop Heber HSS in final

Bishop Heber HSS (Teppakulam) cruised past Zamindar HSS (Thuraiyur) 3-1 to enter the final of the Soccer King Pele football tournament, conducted by the Tiruchi District Football Association, in Tiruchi on Friday.

The results: Teppakulam Bishop Heber 3 (Sheik Mohammed 2, Narayanamurthy 1) bt Zamindar HSS 1 (Rajan 1).

Nagapattinam in last four

Nagapattinam defeated Tiruvarur by virtue of its first-innings lead and booked a place in the semifinals of the TNCA under-17 inter-district cricket tournament in Nagapattinam on Friday.

The scores: Nagapattinam 352 for eight in 91 overs (Vigneshpathy 103, Vishnuraja 79, Manoharan 59 not out, R. Vivek 41) vs. Tiruvarur 145 in 86 overs (Manoharan three for 27).

Coimbatore in last four

Coimbatore: Host Coimbatore defeated Ramanathapuram by eight wickets to enter the semifinals of the TNCA under-17 inter district cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds here on Friday.

At Coimbatore: Ramanathapuram 145 & 99 in 41.1 overs (Mariappan four for 4, Nitish Kumar Sahani three for 53) lost to Coimbatore 233 in 53.4 overs (Yogeshwaran 66) and 12 for two in three overs.

At Salem: Salem 260 & 100 for two in 20 overs (R. Vignesh Karthik 56 not out) vs. Tiruchi 283 in 81.4 overs. (Tiruchi entered semifinals by virtue of first innings lead).
