Dindigul boys win title

THANJAVUR: Dindigul defeated Madurai 76-50 to win the boys’ title in the inter-district youth basketball championship, here on Sunday.

The results: Final: Dindigul 76 (Adinarayanan 21, Jaganraj 18) bt Madurai 50 (Karuppasamy 15). Third place: Tiruchi 65 (Vinoth 22, Khousie Khan 13, K. Saravanan 12) bt Cuddalore 51 (Prasannavenkatesh 14, Parthiban 10).

Arunmozhi scalps five

At Tiruchi, K.S. Arunmozhi scalped five wickets as Map CC defeated Premier CC by 87 runs and entered the quarterfinal of State-level invitation cricket tournament for the RKV Cup on Monday.

The scores: Map CC 228 for five in 30 overs (S. Krishnakumar 81, K. Dhanapal 47 not out, T. Manivel four for 29) bt Premier CC 141 in 21.4 overs (D. Rajendrakumar 56, K.S. Arunmozhi five for 39); Kaliswar CC 173 in 29.3 overs (M. Balraj 50) lost to Ponnagar CC 177 for seven in 29.1 overs.

Easy for Red Diamonds

At Coimbatore, Murugesan’s knock of 79 helped Red Diamonds Cricket Club defeat ICC by 59 runs in the Texcity Twenty20 cricket tournament on Monday.

The scores: Red Diamonds CC 164 for seven in 20 overs (Murugesan 79) bt ICC 105 in 17.3 overs; Rainbow Jeeva CC 174 for three in 20 overs (Manikandan 56) bt Best VP XI 114 in 16.4 overs; Rainbow CC 169 for six in 20 overs (Srinivasan 52) bt TPRC 90 for nine in 20 overs (Venkatesh four for 19).
