DK plea on Sethu project

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Dravidar Kazhagam president, K.Veeramani, on Monday said that the Centre should not seek more time for filing its affidavit before the Supreme Court in the case relating to the Sethusamudram project.

He told presspersons here that the implementation of the project was being delayed when it was nearing completion. There would be cost escalation if there was further delay in its execution. The case is coming up again on January 16 and the Union Government should not seek further time for filing its affidavit.

A meeting of the Sethusamudram protection committee, which consisted of several fraternal parties, at its meeting in May last year had already stressed the need for the speedy implementation of the project.
