Chennai Sangamam events

CHENNAI: Several folk and classical performances have been lined up at different venues as part of Chennai Sangamam on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday

Carnatic vocalist Bombay Jayashri will perform at Natesan Park, T.Nagar, between 6.45 p.m. and 8.00 p.m.

A concert of vocalist Aruna Sairam will be held at the Valasaravakkam Periyar Vilayattu Thidal at 6.45 p.m. and Mukthiar Ali’s Sufi Music recital will be held at Kalakshetra at 6.30 p.m.

A host of folk art performances such as Paraiattam, Nayandi Melam, Karagam, Kavadi Attam, Thevar Attam and Mannin Padalgal will be held at Sivan Park, K.K. Nagar, from 5 p.m. onwards.

On Wednesday

At Sivan Park, vocalist Valivalam Venkataraman will perform at 6.30 a.m. A Sufi music concert by Mukthiar Ali will be held at Nageswara Rao Park, Mylapore, at 6.45 p.m. A group dance by Avigna is to be organised at Tower Park, Anna Nagar, at 7 p.m.

A jugalbandi by Kanyakumari and M. Janardhan Mitta will be held at the Institute of Road Transport, Taramani, at 6.30 p.m.

Folk art performances

A variety of folk art performances comprising Tharai Thapattai, Oppari, Madu Attam and Karagam are scheduled at various, venues including Queen Mary’s College on Kamarajar Salai, DRBCC School, Perambur, Corporation Ground, Trustpuram, and Cantonment High School, Pallavaram, from 6.30 p.m. onwards on Wednesday.
