Karunanidhi distributes free bicycles

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Monday distributed free bicycles to higher secondary school students belonging to Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, and Adi Dravidar at the Secretariat.

Students studying in 11th standard in 2851 government, aided and partly aided schools are eligible to get the bicycles. This year about 5.22 lakh students would be benefited and the distribution completed before the end of February. Under the Tamil Nadu Minorities Economic Development Corporation, the Chief Minister handed over loans at subsidised rate of interest to 209 persons for purchasing of autorickshaws, according to an official press release.
