THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram Archbishop Susaipakiam on Monday warned that the State government would face a strong backlash from the fishermen community if it failed to check the diversion of funds released by the Union government for tsunami rehabilitation. He was speaking after inaugurating a march organised by the Tsunami Rehabilitation Action Council in front of the Secretariat. He said a large portion of the Rs.1,441-crore outlay for rehabilitation was being diverted to regions away from the coast. The project was designed for the development of 222 coastal villages in Kerala. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
