CPI(M) meet from January 21

This is the first time that the conference will be held in Mysore

MYSORE: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) will hold its 19th State-level conference here from January 21. This is the first time that such a conference will be held in Mysore.

Polit Bureau members, including Sitaram Yechury, S. Ramachandra Pillai and K. Varadarajan will participate in the four-day conference.

In a release here on Wednesday, president of the reception committee G. Jayaram and general secretary N.S. Prabhakar said the conference would be held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Community Hall.

The communist movement was active in Mysore city even during the pre-Independence days. M.P. Shankaranarayana, Sreedhar, Rama Rao and M.N. Ugrappa established a strong base for the Communist Party by organising beedi workers in Mysore.

The party would discuss the strategy to be adopted for the Assembly elections.

Mr. Yechury would address the open session on January 21, and more than 10,000 workers would participate, they said.

Mr. Ramachandra Pillai, Mr. Varadarajan and members of the State executive committee, G.V. Sriram Reddy, V.J.K. Nair and Neela would participate in the deliberations.

Secretary of the State unit of CPI (M) G.N. Nagaraj would preside over the function. Three hundred delegates elected in the recently concluded district conferences of the party would participate in the meet, Mr. Jayaram and Mr. Prabhakar said
