Separate zone for egg exports sought

CHENNAI: The National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC) on Wednesday urged the Centre to create a separate zone for Namakkal so that export of eggs was not affected even if there was an outbreak of bird flu.

In a press release, NECC chairperson Anuradha J. Desai said: “West Bengal is a deficit state in respect of poultry products and the deficit is met by supplies from other states. Yet, Namakkal that has no connection with poultry in West Bengal, has to suffer loss of export.” — Special Correspondent
