Samathuva Pongal held at Borstal School

Inmates display their talents to the delight of all

PUDUKOTTAI: Cultural programmes to promote awareness on HIV/AIDS and the evils of drug abuse were organised as part of the Samathuva Pongal held at the Borstal School at Pudukottai on Wednesday.

The Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Tiruchi range, B.M. Ezra, presided over the event. A television set and a DVD player was presented to the school by Madhuranthagi Kaliyamurthy, Member, Arts and Culture Committee. Another member of the committee, Sathyabalan, rendered folk songs to highlight the evils of drug abuse and the AIDS.

The inmates of the Borstal School also displayed their talents in singing, dancing etc. much to the delight of one and all.

K. Jayabharathi, Superintendent, Borstal School and District Prison (in-charge) and Ramamoorthy, joint director, Rural Health Services, Thangam Moorthy, a member of the Arts and Culture Committee spoke.
