India takes on Mexico

Chennai: India is scheduled to meet Mexico in the opening match of the six-nation Olympic hockey qualifier to be held at Santiago (Chile) from March 1 to 9.

The winner will qualify for the Beijing Games.

The teams in the fray are India, Mexico, Great Britain, Bangladesh, Chile and Austria.

The fixtures:

March 1: India vs. Mexico; Great Britain vs. Bangladesh; Chile vs. Austria. March 2: India vs. Bangladesh; Great Britain vs. Austria; Mexico vs. Chile. March 3: Rest day. March 4: Mexico vs. Great Britain; Austria vs. Bangladesh; Chile vs. India. March 5: Rest day. March 6: Austria vs. Mexico; Great Britain vs. India; Bangladesh vs. Chile.
