AIR grabs semifinal berths

VISAKHAPATNAM: All India Radio grabbed two semifinal berths in the carrom event of the third CMR-VJF inter-media sports meet at the Narla Venkateswara Rao Bhavan here on Friday.

Three-time winner R. Ramesh Babu of AIR beat Murali Prasad (VJF) 25-2, 25-18, Sharif of SDV beat B. Sanyasi Rao of AIR 25-5, 25-0 and M. Bheema Raju of AIR upset runner-up for the last three years, A. Manoharan of The Hindu 25-10,25-1 in the quarterfinals.

The doubles event will commence on Saturday and the women’s events will be held on Sunday.
