‘Coffee beans and seeds are same’

BANGALORE: In what could be termed as a major relief to multinational coffee curing companies, the Karnataka High Court has held that coffee seeds and beans are one and the same and that they cannot be taxed as a manufacturing activity. A Division Bench comprising Justice K.L. Manjunath and Justice A.S. Bopanna passed the order on a petition by Tata Tea Limited. — Staff Reporter
