Minister gives ‘pattas’ to 376 beneficiaries in Dharmavaram

138.81 acres of land given away to 75 beneficiaries in Hindupur


DHARMAVARAM: The fourth phase of land distribution scheme was launched in the district here on Saturday by Minister for Agriculture N. Raghuveera Reddy.

In all, 376 beneficiaries were distributed 1,332.43 acres of land.

The beneficiaries were given kits containing pattadar passbook in the name of women, title deed with photograph of the beneficiary, land sketch and a letter from Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The beneficiaries would also be helped to develop the land under the Comprehensive Land Development Programme (Indira Prabha).

Speaking at a meeting organised on the occasion, the Minister said the Government would continue the land distribution programme till the last inch of land is available for distribution.

He said that land distribution in the State had picked up momentum during the last four years with the Government distributing about 54 lakh acres to peasants.

The Government is also spending a lot of amount on the development of land given to the poor for making it cultivable.

About Rs. 560 crore was spent on land development under CLDP so far, the Minister noted.

As a result, provision of micro-irrigation facilities, farm credit and creation of irrigation potential, the share of agriculture income in GDP is 12 per cent in the State against 3 per cent from the sector in the country’s GDP, Mr. Reddy said.

The production of food grains had also gone up from 148 lakh metric tonnes to 186 lakh MT in the State during the last four years, he said.

Later, the Minister also distributed 138.81 acres land to 75 beneficiaries at Hindupur.
