Rs. 2,837 crore I-T collected last year Growth rate rose up to 48 per cent MAHABUBNAGAR: The Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Lahari has said that the growth rate of Income Tax was increasing every year in the State. Addressing a meeting of Income Tax assesses here on Friday, Mr. Lahari said that the growth was a welcome note. He said that last year Rs. 2,837 crore was collected as Income Tax and the growth rate increased up to 48 per cent. This year, till December 2007, out of Rs.5,116 crore target, a sum of Rs. 4,184 crore of tax was collected and growth rate reached up to 47 per cent in the State. Additional Commissioner Income Tax A. Thirupati, Assistance Commissioner Shesha Prasad Rao, District Tax Bar Association president Thimmaiah Gupta, District Trade Association president K. Adi Narayana Gupta, District Income Tax Officers Ananda Vardan and P.V. Krishnaiah also spoke. He said that in Mahabubnagar district, against a target of Rs. 34 crore this year, an amount of Rs. 12.45 crore was collected up to December 2007. He directed the officers of the department to concentrate on collection of Tax. He informed that all the Income Tax offices in the State would be provided with computers and Internet facilities soon. All the information regarding tax assesses would available in the Internet and to provide better services to the Income Tax assesses, adequate infrastructure was also being provided in the offices. Briefing the district’s performance, Mr. Lahari informed that as many as 22,000 Income Tax returns were received, of which 16,500 were processed and there was no public grievance pending in the district. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
