NEW DELHI: Professor K.P. Kannan, member of the National Commission for Enterprises in the unorganised sector, has been elected conference president for the golden jubilee celebrations of the Indian Society of Labour Economics this year. The decision was taken at the general body meeting of the Society during its 49th annual conference. Prof. Kannan, also a former Director of the Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram, is a well known development economist. The golden jubilee celebrations will be organised by the University of Lucknow and the Giri Institute of Development Studies at Lucknow in December. More than 500 people, comprising academicians, professionals and other experts from India and abroad, are expected to participate.
