ERODE: Erode Municipal Corporation will provide round-the-clock water supply soon to its residents by implementing a Rs. 6-crore project. Mayor K. Kumar Murugesh told The Hindu that the project would be implemented soon. Though Erode is located on the banks of River Cauvery, water was provided only on alternate days. The Government had approved the project and tenders had been floated, he said. Mr. Kumar Murugesh said that according to the scheme water would be pumped from Cauvery River and treated at the Vairapalayam treatment plant. From there it would be taken to water tanks at Karungalpalayam , Gandhiji Road, Municipal VOC Park, NGGO colony and Chennimalai road. All the 45 wards will get round-the-clock supply from these tanks. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
