New rickshaw policy passed

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s innovative rickshaw policy was passed with some amendments on Monday.

The amendments entailed an increase in the number of permissible rickshaws from the earlier proposed 52,000 to 99,000; allowing a councillors verification to hold good in cases of ascertaining which zone an applicant lived in; setting up of rickshaw stands near bus stands; and giving preference to dependents of the differently-abled.
