Plethora of promises

WARANGAL: Showering a plethora of promises on the BCs, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the TDP would give three grams of gold to every girl during marriage for the ‘mangalasutram’, three cents of land to every poor family and free power upto 50 units to domestic purposes.

Urging the BCs to continue to patronise the TDP, Mr. Naidu said his government would revive the Rs. 2 a kg rice scheme, pay Rs. 1,000 per month allowance to every unemployed youth, enhance pensions to the poor to Rs. 500 per month and waive all kinds of loans of BCs.

The TDP would provide free houses to the poor, provide loans to traditional occupations at 10 paise interest, scrap all the service taxes and provide Rs. 2,000 crore annual budget for BC welfare.

He promised to ensure free higher education opportunities to the BC youth.

33 per cent quota

Mr. Naidu also promised to provide 33 per cent reservations in Assembly and Parliament to the BCs. He demanded that the government take up census to asses the percentage of BCs in the total population and assured to take census every 10 years and accordingly allocate the budget for the uplift of BCs.

Giving a hint of the party’s stand on separate Telangana, Mr. Naidu said the TDP founder N. T. Rama Rao brought a new identity to the Telugu people across the world.

He strove for the self-respect of Telugu people and the TDP would continue to follow his footsteps.
