Heed our demands: Members of the Students Federation of India who came to the Tirunelveli Collectorate to submit a petition on Wednesday.

TIRUNELVELI: Members of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) submitted a petition to the Collector, G. Prakash, on Wednesday seeking adequate infrastructure facilities in the government hostels in the district.

In the petition, the activists said the food allowance being given to the inmates of Backward, Most Backward, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe hostels should be increased and the Government should make earnest attempts to establish its own buildings for running these hostels and adequate amenities there.

The vacant posts of hostel wardens, cooks, watchmen and conservancy workers should be filled-up.

Hostel inmates’ committees should be constituted to improve the conditions prevailing there and ensure the meticulous distribution of welfare measures.

Apart from creating libraries, computers with internet facility should be extended to the hostel students, the petition said.
