CHENNAI: Describing the Governor’s address to the Assembly as a “mixture of sweet and sour” and not “bitter”, Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss on Wednesday said policy decisions and announcements regarding plans for the future are not as many as details of the government’s past achievements. In a statement here, he pointed out that while it was commendable that rice was being supplied at Rs.2 a kg through the public distribution system, the prices of essential commodities in the open market had skyrocketed. Efforts should be taken on a war footing to bring down the prices. Absence of any announcement in this regard was disappointing. Tamil alone should be made the official language of the State before the year-end, he added. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
