Lok Satta against tie-up with power aspirants

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: The Lok Satta party State secretary D.V.V.S. Varma is of the view that the sops being promised at various forums, including the ‘BC Garjana’ of Telugu Desam party at Warangal on Wednesday, are aimed at attracting poor on the basis of caste to meet their political ends. “The political parties must strive to end caste discrimination and also stop making the poor and the downtrodden dependents on government. Instead, they must help them stand on their feet,” he said.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Varma said that if political parties had the will to uplift the weaker sections they must reserve seats in elections in proportionate to their population. Condemning naming of political heirs, Mr. Varma announced that his party would field candidate in the by-election to Khairatabad Assembly constituency. On alliance with the possible political outfit of film actor Chiranjeevi, he said that Lok Satta would not join hands with parties entering politics with the sole aim for power.
