Whiff of fresh air: Visitors going round the stalls at the Flower Show organised at the VUDA Park on Thursday.—

VISAKHAPATNAM: Roses in different colours, orchids, anthuriums, orchids, gladiola, gerberas and a host of other flowers greet visitors to the three-day annual flower show, being organised by VUDA, that opened at the VUDA Park on Thursday.

Women were seen engrossed in drawing rangolis on either side of the road leading to the venue.

The colourful ‘muggulu’, drawn as part of the rangoli contest organised by VUDA, caught the attention of visitors.

Figures of Lord Venkateswara, Lord Ganesh and Lord Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha were attractive to say the least. A Chinese orange plant in full bloom was the highlight of the bonsai section.

The colourful species of flowers were sourced from Ooty, Coorg, Kodaikanal, Kerala, Kolkata and Bangalore in addition to those from different parts of the State. The VUDA authorities have changed the venue of the flower show on the suggestion of the public to provide easy access and to prevent traffic bottlenecks that were experienced on the Kailasagiri Road in the past.

Some of the plants and flowers have been put up on sale. The show will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a break between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The show will be on till Saturday.
