‘Voice of the Park’ is an album by a group of Technopark employees

‘Voice of the Park,’ a musical group featuring debutant singers, released their self-titled first album amid much pomp and fanfare, at Technopark Amphitheatre recently.

The album, which was released by Mohanlal, is a collaboration of a group of Technopark employees, bound together by the love of music, and is “a true reflection of how the magic of music reduces all physical barriers into trivialities,” as put by Anand Venkitaraman, one of the singers in the album. As part of its release, the band plans to release 8,000 copies of the album free of cost to audience.

On the album

The album features an ensemble crew of 25 musicians, and features seven tracks in four different languages, VOTP, as it is already called among the Techies, has songs in English, Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil.

“Music is a universal language, and we didn’t confine ourselves to any particular genre,” comments Kiran Rajendran, who is in charge of marketing the album. “The album is a fusion of various music,from Hindustani to Western,” he adds.

“The team in itself is a diverse crowd from various companies in Technopark, and this has enriched the album,” opines Arun K. Narayanan, the music director-cum-lyricist for the album.

“Every single person contributed to making VOTP a really exquisite collection of songs,” he adds.

The rich diversity can also be seen in the instruments used for the album, from western instruments like the guitar, keyboard and drums, to traditional eastern instruments like the veena and flute, to produce a rich sound which resonates throughout the seven-track musical ensemble.

No professional musician was involved in the production. The team had to squeeze in time between their hectic work schedules to put together the medley of songs, from melodies to foot-tapping numbers. ‘“VOTP’ is an ultimate experience for any music lover,” says Harikrishnan, a drummer for VOTP and the rock band Rubbur Band.

The event, exclusively open for Technopark employees, also featured various musical and cultural groups based on the campus, and was spruced up by a DJ party in culmination of the fete. The album and its release are financially supported by the Oceanus Construction Group.
