Collector unfurls tricolour

VIZIANAGARAM: Collector B. Kishore said on Saturday that works on houses that were sanctioned under Indiramma programme in two phases would be taken up during ‘Indiramma Prasthanam’ being organised from January 27 to February 11.

An action plan was already chalked out for the purpose, he said while speaking after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day at Police Training College ground here.

Dr. Kishore said that 78 per cent of 76,500 houses sanctioned in the first phase was completed.

In the second phase, 1.14 lakh houses were sanctioned.

In the four municipalities, Rs. 41 crores was sanctioned for 10,362 houses in the first phase and they would be completed by the end of the next month, he said.

‘Good harvest’

Expressing satisfaction over good harvest in the kharif, he said Rs. 254 crores was given as crop loans to farmers. With regard to NREGP, he said administrative sanction for 27,100 works at a cost of Rs. 382 crores was given and created over one crore mandays.

Under Rajiv Yuva Shakti scheme, he said that against the target of 986 units to 1,100 unemployed youths, 431 were sanctioned and some 463 youths were trained in various trades.

The Collector said as part of the Rajiv Vidya Mission (SSA), a sum of Rs. 12 crores would be spent for construction of 285 additional classrooms.

Later, he gave away merit certificates to sincere and hard working employees.
