HYDERABAD: The 59th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in several government departments here on Saturday. Hyderabad District Collector R.V. Chandravadan unfurled the national tricolour and called upon the officers and employees to re-dedicate themselves for efficient implementation of government welfare and development schemes. He presented merit certificates to over 20 officers and staff who discharged their responsibilities with commitment and dedication. Among them is District Employment Officer Sashikiranachari who organised 40 job melas under the Udyoga Sri scheme. Ranga Reddy Collector Praveen Prakash hoisted the National Flag at V.M.Home, Saroornagar. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Praveen Prakash said that under the Indiramma housing programme to provide shelter to poor, over 30,000 houses had been constructed in the district as against the target of 70,000. GHMC Commissioner C.V.S.K. Sarma unfurled the tricolour at the GHMC headquarters. He gave away certificates of appreciation to Additional Commissioners like Dhanunjaya Reddy, Anuradha, Rajeswara Rao, Ramesh, Rammohan Rao among others. The Commissioner also visited Hyderabad Metro Rail Bhavan and some slums like Karmik Nagar, Ayogyamata Nagar near Yousufguda and hoisted the national flag. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board Managing Director K.S.Jawahar Reddy hoisted the tricolour at the head office.
