Andhra Pradesh

Fight for a united State

Minister for Panchayat Raj J. C. Diwakar Reddy has rightly said that he was very much in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh instead of separation, region wise. The self-styled protagonists of separate Telangana are becoming the greatest threat to the political, social and cultural fabric of the State. It must be understood that disintegration of the State will have an adverse effect on its economic development. One cannot see an extensive and deep ideological trend in the demand for statehood to Telangana whose origins are closely interwoven with the interests of the land owners and the capitalists of dominant sections of society.

Communist Party of India (Marxist ) State committee member Sudha Bhaskar has rightly stated that increasing separatist trend in the country including Telangana is the result of unabated globalization that aims of dividing the masses into different groups for the benefit of few (The Hindu Jan 20, 2008). The Governments at the Centre and the State should resolve this issue of Telangana by going back to the Mulki rules and ensure its prompt implementation in both letter and spirit so that justice is done to the people of Telangana.
