Arun scores century

Coimbatore: R. Arun Balaji’s century enabled Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Maha Vidyalaya MHSS score a convincing 167-run win over Corporation Boys HSS (Siddhapudur) in a quarterfinal clash of the CDCA under-17 inter school cricket tournament for the TSS & Co Trophy at the SNR Sons grounds here on Tuesday.

The scores:

Sri Jayendra Saraswathi 244 for five in 25 overs (R. Arun Balaji 104) bt Corpn. BHSS (Siddhapudur) 77 in 22 overs.

RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS 211 for seven in 25 overs (Yogeshwaran 85, Nitish Kumar Sahaney 52) bt Ramakrishna MHSS 90 for eight in 25 overs.

Easy for Salem BC

At Namakkal, Salem Basketball Club notched up a 55-32 win over Selvam College (Namakkal) in its opening fixture of the 17th State-level basketball tournament for men and women, organised by the Namakkal Basketball Club, at the Government Boys HSS (South) on Tuesday.

Salem BBC 55 bt Selvam College 32; Sparks BBC (Salem) 73 bt Erode BBC 57.

Easy for Red Rose FC

Red Rose FC blanked Young Challengers FC 3-0 in a Tiruchi District Football Association third division ‘A’ zone league fixture here on Tuesday. Aravind, Adam and Abdullah were the scorers.
