Sridhar’s team triumphs

BANGALORE: The President’s team led by D.R. Sridhar, GM of Vijaya Bank won SVS Trophy, the symbol of supremacy in the team of four duplicate event in the 46th State bridge championship here. Akshay team, led by former international S.K. Iyengar, finished runner-up.

Other winners: Suresh Kamath and C.A. Alagappan (open pairs), Mrs. Hatrendra & Mrs. J. Mohan (Ladies pairs) and M.A. Parameswara & A. Pourswamy (senior pairs).

Big win for NLS

New Lucky Star (NLS) registered a massive 7-0 win over Jawahar Union in a C Division football league tie here on Tuesday.

Santosh (twice), Nadeem, Mahesh, Strin, Tobinew and Ramesh got the goals for the winners.

Double for Vinay

Vinay Hari bagged a double in the Century Club State-ranking badminton tournament here on Tuesday. Vinay won the boys’ under-16 singles title, defeating L.U. Chirag 21-16, 21-13 in the final. Later, Vinay teamed up with Channabasava R. Jyothi to win the doubles title with a 25-23, 15-21, 21-14 victory over the L.U. Chirag-Sai Praneeth duo.

Other results (all finals): Boys: Under-13 (singles): S. Suresh bt Vasishta 21-14, 21-6; Girls, under-13, singles: Reshma Karthik bt Mira Mahadevan 21-10, 21-14.

Cariappa hockey

The 11th edition of the Field Marshall Cariappa Memorial State-level hockey tournament will get underway at the KSHA stadium from Wednesday.

The final is slated for February 10. Twelve teams have been divided into four groups of three teams each and the top two from each pool will figure in the knock-out quarter finals.
