Yakshagana festival evokes good response

Keeping tradition alive: Chindu Yakshagana Bhagavatam festival in Gajwel. –

Sangareddy: Medak Collector B. Venkatesam announced that the administration would release pension and issue sites for artistes of traditional art forms in the district.

He was addressing the valedictory of the five-day Yakshagana and Chindu Bhagavatham festival in Gajwel on Tuesday night.

According to a press release, the festival was jointly organised by the Directorate of Culture and Siddeswara Janapada Natyakala Mandali at the junior college auditorium.

The Collector urged artistes to blend latest technology to make the Yakshagana more attractive to the present generation.

He asked them to provide education to their children and utilise the benefits and schemes being extended by the State Government.

He expressed happiness over the overwhelming response the festival received in Gajwel reflecting the attachment of the local people to these art forms. He also advised artistes to form self-help groups so that the government could provide financial assistance. Dommata legislator S.Ramalinga Reddy, Medak RDO Johnson and DPRO L.Veerappa were also present.
