Big win for host

CHENNAI: The first of the three Olympic hockey qualifiers began on Saturday at Auckland with the home team recording a 12-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, and following it up with a 3-1 victory over Ireland on Sunday.

Argentina beat United States 9-1 on the opening day and finished with a 7-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago the next day. The winner of this event will qualify for the Beijing Games from this cluster. Monday was a rest day.
