Service tax evasion cases

BANGALORE: The Directorate-General of Central Excise Intelligence, Bangalore zonal unit, with jurisdiction over Goa, Karnataka and Kerala, registered eight cases of service tax evasion amounting to Rs. 1,484.38 lakh, which led to recovery of Rs. 62 lakh. Two Central Excise cases worth Rs. 128 lakh were detected and duty of Rs. 127.02 lakh was realised during January 2008, a release from the Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence said. — Staff Reporter
