BANGALORE: BangaloreOne, the citizen service centre, which was restricted to the city limits so far, will extend its operation to the erstwhile TMC and CMC areas that are now brought under the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits. The Department of E-governance has identified 40 places in these areas to open more centres. Disclosing this at the inauguration of Indiranagar B-One centre here on Monday, Principal Secretary E-governance, IT and BT, M.N. Vidyashankar said the department was in the process of acquiring land for these centres. He said that though it would take around three weeks to set up the centre. Mr. Vidyashankar also said that 20 more B-One centres would be inaugurated in the next two weeks in the city limits, and that these centres would be smaller than the usual centres that are in place . He said that the work on these centres was almost complete and it would offer all the services that were available in the already functioning B-One centres. He said that the department would be introducing booking of KSRTC tickets in these centres, and were also negotiating with LIC and Provident Fund Commissioner to offer services. Private bus ticketing services and cinema tickets would be extended through the B-One centres while they were in the process of roping in many other cinemas. Mr. Vidyashankar said that BangaloreOne centres would be opened shortly in Hubli-Dharwad, Mangalore and Mysore. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
