Mega health camp from February 17

Rs.18 lakh sanctioned for the purpose

Kakinada: The district administration is organising a three-day free mega health camp covering seven Assembly segments of Kakinada Parliamentary constituency, at the JNTU Engineering College grounds from February 17.

People of Pratthipadu and Jaggampeta Assembly constituencies will be diagnosed on February 17, Tuni, Pithapuram and Peddapuram on February 18 and Kakinada and Sampara on the last day (February 19).

A sum of Rs 8 lakh has been sanctioned for the purpose, 50 per cent of it for the procurement of medicines. Doctors of government hospitals, Indian Medical Association and Arogyasri network hospitals will conduct the tests and give necessary treatment. Besides, some specialist doctors sponsored by the Central Government will render the health care services.

Kakinada MP M.M. Pallamraju has played an instrumental role in conducting such camps.

Arrangements are being made to organise awareness meetings in the respective mandals on February 13 and 14, wherein doctors of primary health centres, Mandal Development Officers, Mandal Revenue Officers and local people’s representatives will explain about the benefits of the camp and give guidance to the people.

Transport and boarding and lodging facilities are being provided for the needy.
